The San Francisco 49ers held their Friday practice with newly-signed wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who signed a six-year contract with the team on Wednesday and officially put on the No. 15 49ers jersey since. And the rookie’s performance was impressive to his teammates and Coach Mike Singletary.
Singletary said Friday that the team has not been distracted by the added attention heaped on the 49ers this week after signing the first-round draft pick to the six-year contract and Crabtree has made great moves and put a lot of effort in making progress.
To backup quarterback Alex Smith, it was Crabtree’s desire to learn as much as he can that impressed him most.
“He is always coming over and asking questions,” Smith said. “He takes advantage of the opportunities and sticks with us every chance. He wants to pick up what he can.”
If not to play against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday, Crabtree will have about two weeks to study the playbook and receive extra tutoring since the 49ers will have their bye week next week.
