Former Giants WR Burress may lose home in Florida

The former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress still has to worry about things happening outside the prison as he may have no home to return if he fails to deal with things properly while still staying in prison.

The jailed Super Bowl hero and his wife, Tiffany, were hit with a $3.3 million foreclosure lawsuit on Jan. 22 from Deutsche Bank National Trust Co., as a trustee for a mortgage-backed securities fund, according to Broward County Circuit Court records. It concerns the $2.9 million mortgage Burress signed in 2005, covering his home in Lighthouse Point, just north of Fort Lauderdale.

While playing in Giants jersey, Burress caught the winning touchdown pass in the final minute of Super Bowl XLII to lead the Giants past the previously unbeaten New England Patriots and was rewarded a two-year contract extension at $7 million a year in 2008. Bad lucks began since November 2008 when he shot himself with a gun tucked in his pants. The next year he was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment and had to serve a two-year sentence in prison.
