Bea Gaddy center receives donations for Thanksgiving dinner

Bea Gaddy center receives donations for Thanksgiving dinner

Marylanders in a new jersey devils jersey facing foreclosure after losing a job or receiving a pay cut could get as much as $50,000 over two years to help with mortgage payments on a principal residence under a new federal program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Tuesday. The Emergency Homeowners Loan Program, part of the Wall Street reform law, sets aside $1 billion to help troubled homeowners in canadiens jerseys, including nearly $40 million for low- to middle-income Marylanders.

After one of the biggest playoff chokes in NHL history – blowing a 3-0 series lead, then blowing a 3-0 lead in Game 7 to the Flyers in the second round – the Bruins need to catch their breath before they can redeem themselves with Islanders jerseys. David Krejci (broken wrist) is back, but Marc Savard (concussion) and Marco Sturm (knee) are not yet ready. In the meantime, the Bruins must incorporate winger Nathan Horton, who has put up solid numbers wearing New York islanders jersey in the NHL, and rookie Tyler Seguin, who has the potential to immediately contribute. The Bruins have the roster to make a Cup run, but they need to heal their wounds – both physical and mental.

To be eligible, homeowners must have had at least a 15 percent reduction in income, be three months behind on mortgage payments, received a foreclosure notice and be likely to resume making payments within two years. HUD who liked to collect Rangers jerseys said the federal money is a no-interest loan, with 20 percent of the amount borrowed forgiven each year that the homeowner in a New York rangers jersey stays in the house and keeps up with payments. The program should be up and running by year-end, and details on where to apply will be released later.

Cynthia Brooks, wearing ottawa senators jersey, executive director of the Bea Gaddy Family Center in East Baltimore, opened the mailbox Tuesday and found a stack of letters with donations. She said she has not seen so many checks in months, adding that many donors have dropped canned food at the center's doorstep as well. Just a few days ago, Brooks faced the possibility of turning needy people away because the center's supplies were dwindling, its phones were disconnected for lack of payment and donations had dropped significantly. Volunteers were wondering how they would help the nearly 50 people in flyers jerseys who come to the center every day.

On one hand, they are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and winger Troy Brouwer in a philadelphia flyers jersey said: “Our biggest concern is that we know we’re a good team. We don’t want to get overconfident. We don’t want to go into the season thinking that it’s going to be easy again because we all know how big of a battle it was last year.” But on the other hand, they lost 10 regulars from their championship team thanks to a salary-cap crunch, and while their core is intact, they need the new players to find and fill their roles as well as the old guys did. The ’Hawks could be looking to last year’s Flyers and Habs as inspiration as much as anyone. “Our No. 1 goal is to get back to the playoffs,” said captain Jonathan Toews in a Senators jersey.

Brooks in a Toronto maple leafs jersey said that after The Baltimore Sun ran an article Monday on the center's plight, the public responded immediately. Now the phone bill is paid and she is receiving offers from numerous individuals and organizations willing to help with the charity's 29th annual Thanksgiving dinner. "Our donations have really increased and you would not believe the amount of food one article in The Sun has generated," said Brooks wearing devils jersey, the daughter of the late city councilwoman who founded the center. "We are doing a lot better than we were last week. A little publicity helped us a lot."
