Why Columbus Blue Jackets just provided Mike Blunden a one-year contract

To lock up the younger player is believed to be the main mission of the Columbus Blue Jackets before the opening of the new season, which was believed to be the reason for forward Mike Blunden to receive a one-year contract from the Blue Jackets to continue to dress in Columbus Blue Jackets jersey throughout 2010-2011 season.

As the teammates in Steve Mason jersey who gave Blunden his best wishes for he witnessed the great talent in Blunden. “I would like to thank for all help Mason provided me, if there’s no Mason, it is impossible for me to have such great progress, the player in Mason jersey is my idol.” Blunden said during interview.

Rich Nash was the guy who had his own Nash jersey with Blunden but it was sad that he never made such progress as Blunden; the 23-year-old Blunden had two goals and two assists with 59 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Blue Jackets in 2009-10. He scored the first goal of his NHL career against Chicago on March 25. He also had seven goals and nine assists in 25 games with Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse, so it is a mystery for whether Nash will still be able to wear the No.61 Rick Nash jersey when his contract comes to the end.

Chicago’s second pick, 43rd overall, while the guy in Alex Ovechkin jersey was the 35th at that time, in the 2005 draft, Blunden was acquired by the Blue Jackets from Chicago in exchange for Adam Pineault (pih-NYOH’) on Jan. 10, 2009. A native of Toronto, Blunden has played 203 games in the AHL, but the two guys are now competitors in games now, Ovechikin jersey guy expressed that Blunden was always the guy gave me the biggest pressure.

With the re-sign of Blunden, the Detroit Red Wings is expected to achieve more in the upcoming season, but to see whether Blunden is a real talented NHL player should be the reason for him to just receive a one-year contract.
