Blackhawks to sign Leddy and Makarov
Former University of Minnesota defenseman Nick Leddy signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday and Russian winger Igor Makarov has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. With the two contracts, there will be a competition for who will be the next guy to wear the Tomas Kopecky jersey. Both of the two guys admitted that they are the fans of the guy in Kopecky jersey.
A second-round NHL draft pick by Chicago in 2006, the 22-year-old Makarov in Anaheim Ducks jersey split last season with the Moscow Dynamo and St. Petersburg SKA of the Kontinental Hockey League. He had five goals and four assists in 51 games before traded out to take off the Calgary Flames jersey. Taken with the 16th pick in the 2009 draft by the Minnesota Wild, Leddy, with the idol guy in Duncan Keith jersey was traded to the Blackhawks with defensemen Kim Johnsson for defenseman Cam Barker, the guy to replace the player in Keith jersey on Feb. 12. Leddy had three goals and eight assists as a freshman for the Gophers last season.
The lock up of Nick Leddy Igor Makarov and with the efforts of the player in Dustin Byfuglien jersey, the Blackhawks is in no doubt the winner of the 2010 Stanley Cup.
